HBO's The Cube comes to dc

HBO's Cube

The Office of Motion Picture and Television Development and HBO are bringing ‘The Cube’ to the District this weekend. ‘The Cube,’ a 16 foot x 16 foot, four-sided video display, is a unique, new storytelling device that offers four different perspectives on the same scene simultaneously.

‘The Cube’ features two films, each two minutes and each played twice successively, on a rotating basis. In telling the same story from four distinct points of view, each side of the cube stands alone as an engaging film, and as one piece of a larger puzzle. As viewers move around the cube, they watch the story unfold from different perspectives, forming different perceptions, and often misperceptions, of the characters and plot. Only by watching the story unfold from multiple sides of the cube can one begin to see the bigger picture.

'The Cube' will be installed Thursday, October 8, at the plaza on the corner of Columbia Road, NW and Adams Mill Road, NW in Adams Morgan, and will operate Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 8 pm to 2 am.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact The Office of Motion Picture and Television Development at (202) 727-6608 or visit HBOimagine.com.

The Prisoner (2009) - Comic Con Footage

In November, AMC will present The Prisoner miniseries, a reinterpretation of the British 1960s cult hit series starring and co-created by Patrick McGoohan.

The Premise : A man, known as "Six," finds himself inexplicably trapped in "The Village" with no memory of how he arrived. As he explores his environment, he discovers that his fellow inhabitants are identified by number instead of name, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. Not knowing whom to trust, Six is driven by the need to discover the truth behind The Village, the reason for his being there, and most importantly -- how he can escape.

Three Sheets is back!

So after MojoHD was killed by iN Demand Networks late in 2008. The only show that people really gave a shit about on Mojo was Three Sheets with Zane Lamprey. Three Sheets just follows him around at one country per episode and he drinks and parties with locals while sampling regional boozes and drinks. Now after some help via fan campaigns the show is back on a new channel, FLN (fine living network). Check out the 1st 2 episodes of season 4 and enjoy.

the creators of "Homicide" are making "Manhunt" for HBO

wow, 1st thought that comes to mind: maybe this will be a new show for HBO's lineup that doesn't suck.

David Simon and Tom Fontana, two of the creators behind one of the greatest television crime dramas of all time, "Homicide: Life on the Street" are now teaming up again to adapt James L. Swanson's excellent book, "Manhunt" which follows the 12-day hunt for John Wilkes Booth following Lincoln's assassination. It's the kind of material that would work well as a film, but knowing that it will get a full mini-series makes me all kinds of excited. Based solely off of the excellent time period series that was "John Adams", I can safely say my hopes are medium to high right now. If your a fan of US History this can only be good news

"Manhunt" is a great book and if Simon and Fontana can bring the same kind of immediacy and character to it that they brought to "Homicide", then HBO can start building a new shelf for all the Emmys this mini-series will collect. No news on casting as of yet.

and here's a link to the NY Times review of the James Swanson book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer.
