DC tickets & tows Stolen Car, releases it to Thief, then sends Collection agency after owner

Steve Steinberg refused to pay a parking ticket issued after his car had been stolen, so the Washington, DC Department of Motor Vehicles sent a collections agency after him. Steinberg's car was stolen in September of 2006. After he reported the theft, Steinberg says, the DC police and DMV ticketed his car, towed it, then released it to the thief.

Despite having several opportunities to check the car's license plates, the only thing Steinberg got from the police was a $200 ticket for the parking violation the thief had committed. Steinberg sent letters to the police and DMV and informed them that his car had been stolen and he would not pay the ticket, so the DMV reported him to a collections agency.

What a shock! DC DMV are douchebags. On a side note, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

Emergency Crews Tend To Ill Travelers At National Airport

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- A dozen travelers became sick at Reagan National Airport after attending a convention at a Prince George's County resort yesterday, but health officials aren't sure what might have caused their illnesses.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's fire department received calls for sick people at various locations around the airport starting around 5 p.m. yesterday.

Authority spokesman Rob Yingling the 12 travelers had similar symptoms, including nausea and seven were taken to area hospitals in non-life threatening condition.

Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center spokeswoman Amie Gorrell says the patients had attended a private convention. About 400 people attended the event, but no other guests or employees had reported illnesses.

Arlington County Public Health Director Reuben Varghese says the patients appear to have gastroenteritis and seem to be recovering quickly.

Raul Midón is a Monster

The New Mexico-born, New York-based Raul Midón makes his recording debut with State of Mind, on Manhattan Records. The 13 song collection of Midón originals is a mix of soul, R&B, pop, folk, jazz and Latin. Midón, who has been blind since birth and is the son of an African American mother and an Argentinean father, lists such musical influences as Stevie Wonder, Richie Havens,and Jose Feliciano.

Raul has a twin brother who is also blind and works for NASA as an engineer.
